Bourbon Heritage Month is an opportunity to celebrate more than what makes its way to the store’s shelf. It’s a chance to recognize the people, places, craftsmanship, patience, and traditions that have helped shape one of America’s most distinctive spirits. Whiskey embodies the spirit of resilience.
For us at Caskborn, that’s worth raising a glass to.
Because while we make products for your beard, hair, skin, and everyday routine—everything we do starts with a genuine appreciation for whiskey culture. The unrelenting history. The character. The craft. The stories behind the bottle. And the communities that continue carrying that culture forward.
So this September, we’re celebrating bourbon heritage the way we know best: by honoring where it came from, appreciating where it is today, and getting out into the community to see where it’s going next.
A Heritage Worth Celebrating
National Bourbon Heritage Month traces back to 2007, when the United States Senate passed a resolution designating September 2007 as National Bourbon Heritage Month. In doing so, the Senate recognized bourbon as “America’s Native Spirit,” celebrating its heritage, tradition, and place in the history of the United States.
That history is part of what makes bourbon culture different.
Bourbon is connected to generations of makers and drinkers, family recipes and independent distilleries, long-held traditions and new ideas (like us). It’s rooted in craftsmanship, but it has never stood still. Every generation of distillers, collectors, enthusiasts, bartenders, and barrel pickers adds another chapter.
And increasingly, that story stretches far beyond Kentucky.
From Arizona to Kentucky and everywhere around us and between, bourbon culture continues to grow through the people who gather around it. Distilleries. Local shops. Restaurants. Whiskey clubs. Barrel-pick communities. Friends who turn an ordinary bottle into an occasion.
That’s the part of whiskey culture we’ll always be most interested in. How it’s connective and capable of creating community.
Not just what’s in the bottle.
But what brings people together around it.
Bourbon, Beyond the Bottle
At Caskborn, we started with a simple question:
What if you could carry the character of your favorite whiskey with you and experience it all day?
That question eventually led to our small-batch beard, hair, and skin oils made using real whiskey distillate. Not imitation scents. Not simply something “inspired by” the idea of whiskey.
The real thing—reimagined for a completely different kind of ritual.
We call it carrying the spirit.
It’s our way of taking an appreciation for whiskey craftsmanship beyond the shelf and bringing it into everyday life. A reminder that heritage doesn’t have to mean standing still. Sometimes, honoring the craft means finding a new way to experience it while respecting what made it worth celebrating in the first place. Our commitment to celebrate what makes it special was born from a pure interest to create a new expression and extend the story beyond another chapter—rewriting what’s possible.

Made using a Kentucky bourbon we call “Kentucky Red,” this Caskborn original carries notes of oak, sweet corn, vanilla, and wheat into your everyday routine. Apply it to your beard, hair, skin, or tattoos and carry a little bourbon character with you wherever the day takes you.

There’s another reason we’re especially excited about Bourbon Heritage Month this year.
On Saturday, September 12, we’ll be heading to Hye, Texas, for the 2026 Cowboy Bourbon Release at Garrison Brothers Distillery—and we’d love to see you there.
The release party runs from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the distillery and celebrates the return of one of Garrison Brothers’ most anticipated releases. The 2026 Cowboy Bourbon is bottled at 141.0 proof, uncut and unfiltered, after aging through years of intense Texas heat. Garrison Brothers describes the release with notes of toasted caramel, baked spices, molasses, vanilla, and dark chocolate-covered plum.
But as much as the bottle is the reason for the gathering, the gathering itself is part of what we love.
Live music. The Whiskey Shack. Fellow whiskey enthusiasts. A distillery full of people who showed up to celebrate a shared appreciation for the craft.
That’s bourbon heritage happening in real time.

Bourbon’s history is worth celebrating. But heritage isn’t only about looking back.

The independent makers finding their own place within whiskey culture. The traditions worth protecting—and the new ones worth starting.
That’s what we’ll be celebrating throughout September.
